Shivapuri National Park is one of the few national parks within a nation's capital and it is the youngest national park in Nepal. The Shivapuri National Park Hike starts with a short drive to Buhanilkantha Temple which is 9 KM far from the Thamel. You have the option to drive directly to Panimuhan too which is 1 KM far from Budhanilkantha. You have to check into the National Park and make sure not to take any prohibited things into the park.

Start your hike from the southern boundary of this park. As you reach further you have to climb the stone steps, which slowly lead you to the peak. On the way, you can visit the Nagi Gumba where you can see nuns practicing Buddhism. 

Continue your hike along narrow trails decorated with green bush which will take you to the source of the Bagmati River. As you climb the stairs further, you will finally reach Shivapuri Peak. From here you will be able to witness the beautiful mountains ranges and enjoy your lunch. Rest and enjoy the view for short time before returning back to Kathmandu.
