Jiri to Everest Base Camp Route

Jiri to Everest Base Camp carries stacks of adventures and joys along with it. You will feel amazing with the very first adventurous ride from Kathmandu to Jiri (2,100 m). From Jiri, our trek starts through an attractive village and dense forest. Dazing lush strides mound of Khumbu and natural procedure makes adventurous. The Lamajura Pass (3,530 m) and uninterrupted mountain see lie ahead. As you trek ahead, you will pass through Taksindu La Pass (3,075 m) and Karila La Pass (2730 m). The Lukla flights may be delayed if there is bad weather, with an average delay being 24 hours. We can be flexible and change the Itinerary to catch up on lost days, but if the planes can’t fly for more than 4 or 6 days, then there is little to do besides waiting.

Occasionally, the helicopters can fly; if you prefer, we can arrange it with the additional charge.

Once you arrive at the airport, our representatives will be at the airport. You will then be taken to your hotel. Later in the evening, you will meet your guide for the trek and prepare for the trek. Enjoy the local cuisine and spend a fine evening.

On this day, we will begin our preparation for the trek. We will talk to our guide and do last-minute shopping.

We can also arrange city tours by additional charge to explore various UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu. Sites like Kathmandu such as Durbar Square, Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, Pashupatinath Temple, Patan Durbar Square, and Bhaktapur Durbar Square. We will spend our night in Kathmandu.

On this day, we will head to Jiri on a bus. We will leave early as it is a long drive. The road is pitched in the beginning, and then we will take the gravel road. The bus journey is a scenic one. You will come across terraced farm fields, jungles, and few settlements.

We will start our journey on foot on this day. The trail goes parallel to the Likhu river. We will first reach the village of Kenja, where we will rest for a while. The trail takes us through a forest route, and we will come across abandoned gompas. We will cross a few more villages and reach Sete, where we will rest for the night.

The trail on this day is stunning. It will start with a climb past the Lamjura Pass. During spring, this region is laden with vegetation and covered with rhododendron flowers during the spring. If you happen to visit during winters, there is a high chance that you will see snowfall. After about 7 hours of walking through this beautiful trail, we will reach Junbesi.

On this day, you will get a slight peek of the mighty Everest. We will take an uphill hike which is slightly challenging, and then we cross a ridge that is situated at an altitude of 3080 meters. We then drop down to Salung. On our way from Junbesi, we will come across a hospital and an airstrip. After Salung, we will descend to the Ringmo river. We will then do a short climb from Ringmo river and head to Trakshindo pass, which is at an altitude of 3070 meters. After descending from the pass, we will reach the Trakshindo monastery. After more walking, we will finally get to Nuntala which is situated at 2320 meters.

Today we will reach the lowest point of the trek, i.e., Khari Khola. Our trail will initially take us the downhill road and to the river Dudh Koshi. We will come across several terraced farm fields and Sherpa villages. This trail offers a close view of the culture of this land.

This day will be the final day before we join the trail of the popular Everest Base Camp Trek. the altitude will slowly start to rise as we climb a ridge which is situated at an altitude of 2800. meters. We continue our journey and cross a suspension bridge before reaching Phakding.

We will head out early in the morning and make our way to the famous town of Namche Bazaar. Our trail will take us through lush green pine forests, and we will ascend until we reach the north side of Benkar valley. Continuing with our journey, we will first cross the Dudh Koshi River, pass through two beautiful villages of Chumoa and Monjo, and finally make our way to the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park. We will resume our journey, and after crossing a suspension bridge, we will reach Jorsale, where we can rest. Then we will walk alongside the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers. Finally, we will reach the day's final stop: Namche Bazaar, where we will rest for the night.

On this day, we will halt in Namche Bazaar, kind of! On this day, we will acclimatize to the changing weather and increasing altitude. You can go around the town of Namche Bazaar and visit souvenir shops and restaurants. You can also wake up early in the morning and hike up the Sagarmatha National Park and enjoy the sunrise and the majestic view of mountains such as Mt. Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Kongde. If you are interested in a day hike, we can opt for a day hike and head to Khumjung village, where we can visit the Hillary School and a monastery that houses the scalp of a Yeti.

We will head out after breakfast, and right from the beginning, we will be serenaded by the beauty of mountains such as Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam Thamserku, and Khangtaiga. Additionally, we will also be blessed with the rare sightings of musk deer and pheasants. The trail will then head down to Dudh Koshi river, and here we will spot few lodges where we can rest for a while. Our trail will then lead us through a suspension bridge that goes over the Dudh Koshi river. We will then ascend the trail and make our way through pine and juniper forests. We will finally reach Tengboche after the end of this uphill climb. Here, we can visit the famous Tengboche monastery and enjoy the stunning view of Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Mt. Everest, and other peaks. If you visit this place during October, you can witness the famous Mani Rimdu festival.

We will be crossing the 4000 meters mark, but initially, our trail will descend to a small village that houses another famous monastery. After this, we will cross a suspension bridge over Imja Khola and gradually make our way up to Pangboche. The magnificent view of Ama Dablam will accompany us. Pangboche is one of the biggest Sherpa settlements in this region. Here we can also visit the famous Pangboche Monastery. Due to the increase in altitude, our trek will get challenging as we will be required to hike up the trail. After about 6 hours of walking, we will finally reach Dingboche.

Our trek will get more challenging now as we make our way to Lobuche. Our trail will gradually ascend as we make our way to yak pastures and reach our first stop: Dhukla, situated at 4620 meters. We need to climb steep steps until we reach the moraine of Khumbu Glacier. Despite the challenging trek, we will be able to see the spectacular mountain range with mountains such as Khumbutse (6,623 m), Lingtren (6,697 m), Pumori (7,145 m), and Mahalangur. This difficult climb will end when we reach Lobuche, anticipating the adventure that lay ahead of us.

Our 11th day will be the biggest day of our trek. We will be reaching the base camp of the highest mountain in the world. Our tour kicks off with a hike up to Gorak Shep. After Gorak Shep, we make our way to the base camp. The trek is relatively challenging as the trail involves rocky dunes and moraine, formed an accumulation of unconsolidated glacial debris. On our way, we will also see the famous Khumbu Glacier and icefall located on the base of Mount Everest. During the spring season, we can also meet climbers waiting to do the climb. Whip your cameras out and take a tonne of pictures of the breathtaking views of the mountains. After savoring this moment, we will make our way back to Gorak Shep. We need to go to bed early on this day as we need to wake up to catch the sunrise on the following day.

On this day, we will wake up very early and make our way to Kala Patthar. After hiking up for 2-3 hours, we will reach Kala Patthar. Get ready to be mesmerized by the stunning beauty as the first rays of the sun hit the mountains. Kala Patthar offers the best view of Mount Everest(8848 m) and other mountains such as Pumori (7,145m/23,443ft), Lingtren (6,697m/21, 973ft), Khumbutse (6,623m/21,730ft), Changtse (7,550m/24,772ft), Lhotse (8,516m/27,941ft) and Nuptse (7,861m/25,792ft). We will also see Cho Oyo (8,201m/26,907ft) in the west and Ama Dablam to the south. After this, we will head back to the Gorak Shep for our breakfast. Then we will make our way to Pheriche, where we will rest for the night.

From this day, we will make our return journey. The altitude will slowly decrease as we head down the trail, and there will be occasional hills that we must scale. We will pass through awesome rhododendron forests and pine forests. Our retreat will also include the company of spectacular views of the mountains. We will reach Namche Bazaar, where we will rest for the night.

Today will be the last day of walking to Lukla. The trek won't be as challenging, thanks to the decreasing altitude. Trial pass through the wonderfully friendly village of Jorsale and exit the Sagarmatha National Park. We will cross Monjo, Phakding, and then cross the suspension bridge at Thado Koshi before rising to Ghat and Cheplung. Then after the final ascent, which lasts for 40 minutes, we will reach Lukla.

Weather is an essential factor when you are doing Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trek. It is tough to predict the Jiri to Everest Base Camp weather being 100% sure. People can trek energy year, but there are ups and downs in every season. If you want the most favourable season, spring and autumn are the best, and the sky is crystal clear. There will be no cloud in the sky, and the clear azure skies provide the most magnificent prospects. The temperature is also exquisite with sunlight which makes a warm environment. Though in monsoon and winter, the weather is challenging due to heavy rain and snowfall.

Spring includes from March to May, witness stunning views of Himalayan ranges. The weather starts to warm up in these months.
